Hunter Hayes, "Closer To You" Tour

Calling the tour this was spot on, Hunter played smaller venues in a bunch of different states making it easy to connect more with the audience and for us to connect more with him.

I caught Hunter and his opening act, Levi Hummon at their House of Blues stop in Anaheim, California which is not far from Disneyland making it a really great venue.

The show was standing room only and my friend and I were able to be right up against the barricade (my first show where I had been that close).

Hunter put on an incredible show and he played a great mix of both old and new songs. He started off the show with an unreleased song at the time which was interesting. It’s become one of my favorites since the release but I really wish Hunter would have picked another song so the crowd could have sang a long with him at the beginning of the concert.

During Rescue, Hunter grabbed my hand and sang the lyrics, “And when the pieces come unglued, the mess of me will always find the best of you” to me, a moment I’ll remember forever.

Hunter is extremely talented and you can firsthand see how much talent he has at a live show where he constantly playing different instruments, mixing songs and doing instrumental solos on stage. His band is crazy talented too!

When watching Hunter on stage you can tell he’s just so invested in his music, you could see the joy radiate from him by just playing and singing.

At the end of the show Hunter and his band made paper airplanes (one of the themes for tour and Hunter’s new era of music) and sent them flying into the crowd.

My friend caught it and gave it to me. When I got home, I opened it up and it was signed by Hunter.

Venue: I’ve always wanted to attend a concert here. As bummed as I am I didn’t get to go to the original venue, I’m glad I still got to go to the House of Blues.

Seats: There were seats but most of the room we were in was standing room only.

Parking: The House of Blues is located inside an outdoor mall, you can park at the parking structure of the mall and walk over to the venue.
