Through The Madness Vol. 2, Maddie & Tae

The second album is finally here, Through the Madness Volume 2. I loved Volume one so much that it seemed like such a long time before Volume 2 was released. Through the Madness Volume 2 has a total of 8 songs -Every Night Every Morning and Spring Cleaning which came out prior to the album’s release.

Writers on the album consist of Maddie Font, Taylor Kerr Jimmy Robbins, Ryan Hurd, Brock Berryhill, Jonathan Singleton, Daniel Ross, Benjy Davis, Josh Thompson, Matt Dragstrem, Jessie Jo Dillon, Jon Green, Laura Veltz, Josh Kerr and Tayla Parx.

Well In Your World - The duo start the album off strong with asking unanswered questions to a past lover. The chorus brings back haunting memories off naive teenagers that didn’t have any care in the world - but realizing where they are at now she hopes everything is good with him. Verse two are the questions we force out of our mouths when re-meeting a special person after years of unity. I think this is a great opening song for TTM.

Favorite Lyric: Haven’t seen you in awhile don’t know where you are these days did you ever get to Colorado? Or did something make you stay in this place? I’d be lying if I said I missed you but I’d be lying if I said you never cross my mind sometimes

Every Night Every Morning - A classic love song that talks about falling in love over and over again every night and every morning. I can’t help but hear a duo collaboration with this song. Maddie & Tae and Dan + Shay? I also love the idea that this song is a could have been continuation of the first track.

Favorite Lyric: He said, ‘Baby how was your day? Did you call your momma, is she okay? Are you thinking Whiskey or Cabernet?’

Drinking To Remember - Number three comes in as a breakup song. Taking place at a bar, the broken hearted female lead asks the bartender to pour her HIS favorite. Although at first listen this may sound like a fresh break up, it actually tells the story of a healing past relationship where the memories are beginning to fade. I love the story of this song!

Favorite Lyric: For awhile, I thought those tears were never ending but look at me I made it out alive those nights are gettin’ blurry and I’m starting to worry that I won’t always taste his kiss on ice

Girl After My Own Heart - I absolutely adore this one. Everything from the beat to the lyrics to Maddie & Tae’s undeniable sass. There couldn’t be anything better about this track. The duo sing about their significant others at a bar being minutes away from being hit on by another women whom they definitely give a warning to.

Favorite Lyric: Woman to woman yeah you’re rockin’ that dress but woman to woman let me repeat what I said

Watching Love Leave - As soon as I turned this song on I could feel the tears a-comin! The story tells the story of a love lost while watching your lover leave the driveway and boy do Maddie & Tae put their emotions into their songs. I keep going back to track one and hearing parts of those characters’ stories in these other songs. I love the high notes sung by the duo in the chorus, it’s so beautiful!

Favorite Lyric: It ain’t slamming doors crying and screaming it ain’t saying mean things we don’t mean and it ain’t nobody’s fault sure ain’t what I thought

More Than Maybe - A song about your loved one on the fence about the relationship. Maddie and Tae perfectly capture the heartbreak in this and lyrics are perfect. I love the questions asked during the chorus and the definite answer at the end. It wraps the whole song together.

These Tears - With this album you will sure need a box of tissues, there are so many emotions in these things and this one is no different. This song is about crying and honestly the song is like the relief after you feel from crying. Maddie & Tae did a wonderful job with this one!

Favorite Lyric: Every now and then I let myself go numb but once the dam is broken the rivers gonna run

Spring Cleaning - The last track on the album is an upbeat Maddie and Tae breakup anthem! Every one of their albums has to have at least one song like this and this one didn’t disappoint.

Favorite Lyric: So Imma say thank you and let you go guess I took a little note from Marie Kondo

Overall Maddie & Tae’s TTM Volume 2 is amazing! The duo never ever put out mediocre music and you can tell their heart and soul go into every piece of music they release. If anything I would have loved to have seen some more upbeat temp songs thrown on the record but I know the duo has plenty of more music in store.
